Tell us about yourself

I am a service and digital product designer, computer scientist, complexity science practitioner, and educator. I have been working professionally in the design and IT industry since 2008. I am actively involved in spreading best practices for designing systems and technologies in a socially and environmentally responsible way. I love multi-day hikes and living in the moment.

Are there specific areas you would like to work in?

I am fascinated by the world – both the natural world and the world built by human civilizations, with all its cultures, sciences, philosophies, etc. I don’t like to limit myself to specialties. I am a generalist by nature, looking for connections between fields, and I see tremendous value in those connections and relationships.

If so, are there any topics you would like to work on in the near future?

Yes. I’ve been thinking a lot about digital wellbeing lately. It is a complex problem that is too easily reduced to technology. I think we’re facing a huge civilizational problem that can only be partly a technological challenge, because it’s largely a political, economic, business, and cultural challenge. Therefore, improving people’s quality of life requires a much broader transformation than simple solutions like limiting the amount of time spent on social media during the day.

Do you have any favorite authors?

Oh yes! Although it’s not easy for me to point out one or two. I love to read too much. In design literature, I really like Victor Papanek and Kim Goodwin. In fiction, I like Richard Powers, Umberto Eco, Barbara Kingsolver, and Andrzej Sapkowski.

How do you enjoy spending your free time?

I like reading, meeting friends and walking my dog. For longer vacations, I like to go on long hiking trips (from a few days, then to a few weeks of hiking).

Can you share some music you like? What do you like about it?

My favorite music genre is Jazz and its different variations. On the other hand, I wanted to share my musical discovery of 2023, which is the British artist REN. I love his lyrics, his music and his performance. In my opinion he is one of the most talented musicians at the moment. The piece I present below is extremely moving to me, showing the insanity and hypocrisy of modern culture on the subject of “beauty.”
